Emilie Smith, a 19 year old singer and songwriter, is a Boston native who, in her late teens, made her way to South Florida. With a passion for art, in its many forms, she spends her free time painting, playing piano, and watching Youtube videos; however, she also makes time for cooking (in her favorite shows and in her own kitchen) and traveling, among many other things. As a supporter of the Gun Control Movement and the LGBTQ+ community, Emilie devotes herself to activism and raising awareness, using her platform to inspire individuals across America to come together and enact change among their communities.
At 6 years old, Emilie found her inspiration for the art of painting due to her grandmother and great aunt being artists. The passion these notable women instilled influenced a creative journey, as Emilie found a way to incorporate the expressive hobby into her everyday life through her primary and secondary education. Throughout her school years, she enrolled in a variety of different art courses, including Ceramics and 2-D Art, among others. During her senior year of high school, she put together her first significant portfolio, including her distinguished project, Milk and Honey. As a result of successfully acquiring high grades in the course, she was inducted into the National Art Honors Society (NAEA).
In present day, Emilie continues facilitating her craftsmanship by integrating art into her busy schedule as a full-time college student. Although her courses require a lot of her attention, she makes sure to afford herself time to pursue her passion in its various forms. This includes drawing digital portraits, sketching, and painting commission requests, ensuring completion in a timely manner. By continuously producing a diverse set of compositions, Emilie is furthering her skill by learning and developing new techniques on a daily basis. Although her artistry continues to advance as she goes, Emilie can be referred to as highly experienced in 2-D art, evident by her rich portfolio. In addition to finding inspiration on her own path, Emilie thoroughly enjoys exploring the genres and works of contemporary artists who highlight the rich and developing society we live in today. She does so by frequently visiting museums across South Florida and regularly attending Art Basel, an art show in Miami with a multitude of exhibitions and events that focus on the modern and contemporary art of thousands of international artists spanned across the globe. Emilie values the annual event as its variety of themes and gallerists accurately depicts the diversity present in our culturally rich art world. |
